The
Challenge

MANSCAPED, the leader in keeping men’s downstairs groomed, ventured upward and released a new head shaver - the Dome Shaver Pro. MANSCAPED has a specific, unique tone and point of view, so we considered how best to get the word out about a new product from a familiar and recognizable brand. It would need to be a disruptive, attention popping idea executed at a high level.

The
idea

Heads are round. Balls are round. No better way to dramatically exemplify this than diving head first into a square. Show how easy life would be with a square head. Flat surfaces are easy to shave. Anyone can make a razor for square heads. The difficult task is making a product designed for round surfaces. MANSCAPED’s Dome Shaver Pro is exactly that. Easy to explain USPs and an aesthetically pleasing product.

The
execution

The most important first step was asking SFX artists much smarter than us how to pull this off. The exciting part was we got lots of different opinions and execution blueprints. Would it be done practically? If so, foam? Cardboard? Would VFX be the way to go? We considered them all. Eventually we felt the right direction was to create a mold of the actor’s head and build a foam square prosthetic. We’d say it was a success, our video is the most highest video on MANSCAPED’s social channel with nearly 12 million views on Instagram alone.
